15 February 2007

Business Link are holding an IP and Licensing Master Class, at AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday 13 March.

The Master Class will be run in two sessions over the course of a full day. The morning session will consist of a workshop introducing various types of IP and its importance to your business. The afternoon session will concentrate on realising the value of your IP and technology through licensing. It will also include a workshop highlighting important practical issues in technology licensing and a case study of a real-life successful licensing venture.

Delegates will learn the potential that patents, designs, copyright and trade marks have to be assets in any business. It will explain how to identify IP, provide an introduction into IP law and give guidance on how to make these assets work for businesses. It will also show how licensing can be a cost-effective means of exploiting and acquiring intellectual property.

Speakers at the event will include Chris Lewis and Gary Townley of the Patent Office, James Mitchell and Michael Doyle of Lester Aldridge and Simon Buckhaven of Studham Technologies Ltd.

James Mitchell, Intellectual Property Associate at Lester Aldridge comments, ‘Almost every company owns some form of intellectual property, but the majority are not making the most of these valuable assets. This event will provide an excellent introduction to the various types of IP owned by businesses and how to go about realising the value of these assets.’
